How to use HeySurf
From your first login to your first finished task, step by step.
This guide takes you from logging in to following your first task. Labels in bold match what you will see in the workspace.
1. Open your workspace
Log in and open the workspace. New accounts follow a short onboarding to set up their first Bud. If access is not available for your account yet, join the waitlist and we will let you know when your spot is ready.
2. Create a Bud
- Open Buds.
- Choose Create Bud.
- Give it a name and instructions that describe what it should focus on.
- Select the connections it can use.
- Use Chat on the Bud’s card to start a conversation.
You can also skip this and talk to your general Bud straight away.
3. Connect your accounts
Open your profile and choose Accounts. Connect GitHub, Notion, or Google Calendar through the provider’s consent screen. Your Bud can use the connections you allow, and no others.
4. Give it a task and follow the work
Write what you need in Chat and send it. Be specific about the outcome you want, and include any details a colleague would need. While your Bud works, you can:
- Watch its activity in the conversation as it happens.
- Open the browser preview to see what its browser is doing.
- Take over the browser when you need to, for example to sign in yourself, then hand control back so it can continue.
- Stop or redirect the work at any time.
5. Review what it made
Open Space to browse the files in your project. Artifacts your Bud shares in chat can be previewed and downloaded. Review the result before you use it, and ask your Bud to change anything that is not right.
6. Schedule recurring work
To have something happen on a schedule, ask your Bud in chat to set up a scheduled task. Each task keeps a list of its previous runs, so you can see what happened and when.
7. Make it comfortable
Open your profile and choose System Preferences to adjust how HeySurf looks and feels:
- Choose Auto, Light, or Dark appearance. Auto follows the time of day.
- Show or hide the clock.
- Simplify responses.
- Adjust the refractive glass effect.
8. Check your plan and usage
Your profile shows your current plan and your usage of browser, computer, and AI credits. Pro includes 5,000 credits per month, advanced models, 15 Buds, 125 hours of computer use, and 3 hours of Browser Use each month.
